This is something that I have been working on since I was a freshman. There is some violence, but this is just a preview. Enjoy!
The cave was dark, but strangely humid. Father must be doing it to help Mother. I briefly listened for other thoughts, but could only hear my parents' and my new sister's. I continued into the tunnel, my paws making a slapping sound on the cold rock. I reached the cave where they were and halted in the entrance. My mother lay on her side, breath coming in short gasps. Her silver fur was slicked to her body with sweat. Father was sitting next to her, licking her head. When they felt me, Mother lifted her head and purred, signalling me to come closer. But then I heard a new set of thoughts somewhere near. I could almost see the monster that I had created in front of me. But I couldn't let him get to Silverstorm. I let out a hiss and pelted down the tunnel, back outside. I half outspread my wings as I was running, for they were too long to unfurl completely in the tunnel's enclosed space. But when I reached the ledge, I opened them and used my momentum to carry me higher. But as I circled, I could see nothing out of the ordinary. But I could still hear the traitor's thoughts. Once a human, always a human. I could see from his thoughts that he saw me, and tried to puzzle out where he was by the direction from which he was looking at me. Erikine had always been too.... obvious when I had been training him. And I had once thought that humans were like Iizan, with some trace of morality. But I had been wrong, and because of it dozens of my people had died. I was ready to destroy the betrayer for once and for all. And, once caught, to carve off his wings with my claws with the rest of my kin watching. We Slykans are usually gently creatures, but when angered, we also are capable of torture. I saw a flash of black fur with white spots, and knew that I had found Erikine. He hovered in front of me, paws dripping with blood. And my blood ran cold. For he had a small bundle of gold and silver fur hanging from his muzzle. And as I lunged at him, Erikine dropped my sister and I mantled my wings and dove to try and catch her. How the hell had he gotten her in the first place??

Re: Goldenflame
Interesting. I'd like to know how this plays out. Just one question, are these things winged-cat like beings or...?

Slykans are, in my mind, winged wildcats that created the universe. In essence, they are the perfect beings. And they are, until Erikine comes along.
Re: Goldenflame
So something like demigods?
